Ven Paññakāra Thero, together with 12 other monks, is undertaking a seven day “Walk for Peace” across several major cities in Sri Lanka.
A dog named Aloka is also joining this journey. Aloka has become a symbol of the Walk for Peace, and many people across Sri Lanka are excited to see and welcome this unique companion.
The journey begins on April 22 in Anuradhapura and concludes on April 28 at Independence Square in Colombo.
On April 21, 2026, Venerable Paññakāra Thero and his team arrived in Sri Lanka and traveled to Anuradhapura for a pilgrimage to the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi.

At the end of this peaceful journey, a sacred sapling from the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi will be taken to the United States by Venerable Paññakāra Thero, symbolizing the sharing of Sri Lanka’s spiritual heritage and message of peace with the world.
